Stuff I made today :)

I was quite the worker bee again today. Didn't touch the bathroom, but I got a ton of sewing done that I've been "planning to do eventually"...

First of all, the panels for my office shelf... I looove how this works to cover the stuff on the shelves, it's so much neater. And not a stitch was sewn to make this... I used fusible web for the edges and then sticky velcro to attach it to the shelf.

Living room pillows. I had to use this mod floral from the office again because I LOVE IT... then I had just enough of the Joel Dewberry to make a smaller pillow. All my other favorite fabrics weren't QUITE enough to make a 14x14 pillow, so I have one more to make... someday...

AND the sweet little girly pillows! I have been planning these for ages... I totally forgot the ball fringe trim, but in hindsight I'm glad I did because I think I would have literally beat my head against the wall... it was enough of a pain keeping the slippery crap together while it fluffed all over me and the kitchen. I mean it makes a MESS, but it was worth it because I think these are so cute. The picture is awful so I may try to take another tomorrow...

Nesting much?

I also got a few things yesterday for the house... I'm in such a nesting mode again, I would like it to stay til the end now because I can get a lot done when it hits.

Some some cute stuff for the mantle, as I work to make it fit what I envision it to be...

Also got some faux flowers that I thought look pretty good to spruce up my office and my bathroom (bathroom pics to come later):

I might actually finish the bathroom today, I really hope I still have the before picture I took (I deleted one whole memory card to do maternity pics and I fear it may have been on there)... here are a few things I've been saving for ages; I'm going to try them out in there and see how I like them... not sure how the juxtaposition of the melamine mod floral with the rusted antique whatever-those-are's will work... will it seem eclectic or just wrong??

Retail Therapy

I spent about 4 hours yesterday on the hunt for baby photo props. Once I'm back from maternity leave, I'm taking blissphotograph.com to be exclusively newborn and commercial photography... the added bonus is that I get to test out all my new baby props on my baby. hehehe

I got some amazing deals and now the problem is waiting til she's here so I can try these out! I have a feeling after the first few days of recovery, my time will be... feed, change, photo, feed, change, photo.... can't wait!

Delicious soft stuff...

more delicious soft stuff:

even more delicious soft stuff:

I am dying to put a baby on top of and inside this box!!!

Baby on a platter:

Baby on a leaf, this might be my favorite:

I envision this one straight on showing the baby on top of the stand like a yummy little cupcake:

And from lilbabyknits.blogspot.com, the softest cutest little pom pom hat... this even made Jeff crack a grin:

Challenge of today.... put together new shelf so I have a place to store all this nicely!

Ooooh shiny!

I got my new necklace from one of my favorite Etsy sellers... MamaBethBling.etsy.com.
She has a ton of unique designs and they are so well made!!

I ordered this one so I could represent all my loves. Note that Ian and Emalie have their birthstones, but Sophie has pink lol... I couldn't bear putting a yellow topaz on there and I think pink represents her better anyway, so pink it is!

Project 365 - 2.27.10

I looked out the kitchen window yesterday to see my little Scamper-cat chillin' on the swingset. I'm not sure if he used the ladder or the faux-rock-climbing wall to get up there but I thought it was too cute either way.

Maternity Photos!!!

Thanks to my SIL Missy for taking 2 hours of her Sunday to help me with these pics!!!

I had a HUGE list of poses and she stuck it out for as many as we could get done! I set up the shots, she helped me get posed and she did a great job!!!!

I am so happy to have these, the only maternity pics I've ever done (and the last lol)... I got them edited and the album ordered in the same day!!

I'll share pics of that too once it arrives... SOON I hope!

(Don't I look smug in this one:)

Random Updates....

I feel like I have slacked off on blogging. Mainly because I've worked at my part-time job the past 3 days and there isn't as much time to do... anything.

Gestational diabetes sucks, it's the most frustrating thing ever. My blood sugar does whatever it wants with no rhyme or reason whatsoever regardless of what I eat or when. So, I just keep doing my best and feel grateful that I only have a few weeks left.

Still don't have the crib, I was hoping to have it this weekend but it just didn't work out. I told Jeff that next week we WILL be going to get it! I have got to get some things rolling or I'm going to run out of time!

This weekend is going to be GORGEOUS... 59 and 61 degrees last I checked. YUM. I am hoping against hope that my lovely SIL can do my maternity pics for me Sunday, but if not Jeff has said he will do it... should be interesting... but I'm afraid to miss this weather because who knows if another nice day will happen before I give birth!

I have almost finished the bathroom remodel. It was a very budget-friendly remodel but a huge difference already. I was going to do the floor too, but there's just no way I can get down there at this point lol. But, the painting is done, I installed the custom shelves, new sink, new faucet, painted cabinet... I need to paint the mirror, get some pretty containers for the shelves, put the hardware on the cabinet, hang the curtains and shower curtain, install the new towel bar and tp holder and such. Thankfully it's the more "fun" stuff now and not the hard labor!! Before and after pics will be posted when I'm done!

Goals for the weekend... make pillows, get my maternity pics taken, finish the bathroom!

Project 365 - Pillows

I went to Hobby Lobby today to get pillow-making materials.

I got COMPLETELY overwhelmed very quickly by how much cool stuff they have there.

I ended up just getting the fabric and trim and a couple other little things... I am going to have to brainstorm the overall design for the room before I buy any more decor for it or I'll have way too much!

Anyway, the plan is pink swirl minky pillows, with appliqued "S" and "E". Sophie chose the polka dots and I got a coordinating floral for Emalie. They both get large white ball trim.... going to be so cute!!!

I may go back and get more of the floral, and some pink dot minky, to make Em's baby blanket.

I also found the COOLEST pink ruffly flowery fluffy trim, already on elastic, that I'm going to sew into a circle and have a 10 second headband for pics!

Project 365 - Valentine's Day

I meant to blog this yesterday but somehow I ran out of time.

I was busily installing custom shelves in the bathroom and finishing the painting!

(Horizontal pics click to enlarge)

Sophie and her valentine ... wasn't it cute for him to bring her a pink carnation and candy!

Naturally, she was dressed for V-day in her red and white... hehe

close up of my flowers from Jeffery, because I like taking pics of flowers :)

the rose he couldn't resist getting ... his words!

what gestational diabetes??!! LOL one or two a week won't hurt!

Project 365 - Scamper's Identity Crisis

I walked out to the car this morning and heard a "mroawrrrr..."

turned around and was so glad I grabbed my camera on the way out.

Scamper was lying in the dog house with just his little face poking out.

I told him to stay put but once he saw me he started crawling out to visit, so I snapped a pic real quick.

I think he is so CUTE!

Cutest booties evar

I found the most adoooorable booties on etsy... my favorite place to shop anymore.

These are from CrochetTLC.etsy.com and would you believe only $15!!!

I imagine crocheting something like this is a lot of work and these are NICE... thick, soft, well-made... SUCH a great value!

I'm picturing baby Em in these, the turquoise hat with brown ribbon and pink flower, and her birthday suit... AWWWWW.

I put them by a can of my favorite soda to show just how tiny they are lol.

Project 365 -- Dress Up

Shockingly, she loves it... and this is one of my new fave pics now.

Project 365 -- Pathetic Fallacy?

Shakespeare would be proud that I remembered this concept...

if ever a day took on a mood, this day has taken on mine!

I took these pics through the storm door so they are nothing too special

(you wouldn't go outside either in this crap)

but I did use manual mode lol.

These click to enlarge...

belly pic! 30 weeks DONE

I'm getting there!

I was in the "try and enjoy this time! it's the last time you'll be pregnant!" mode, but now I'm in the "just get it over with already!" mode.

Maybe I'll bounce back when I come to terms with my disappointment over the glucose thing.

I tend to do that with a fair amount of alacrity.

Failure :(

I'm really bummed today. It turns out I failed my 3 hour glucose test. :(

The good thing is I didn't fail it by that much I guess...

but I still have to go to the "education center" where they will patronize me about how to eat a balanced diet. I know what to eat, that's why I've gained only 10 lbs in 30 weeks.

Not sure what else I'll have to do, I guess I'll find out. I'm sure it will involve finger sticks and I'm not sure how I feel about all that.

Here were my results:

Fasting: 112 (normal 105)
1 hour: 177 (normal 190, I passed this one)
2 hour: 168 (normal 165, missed by 3 pts great)
3 hour: 163 (normal 145, this one seems like a wild card)

If I'd have gotten that 2 hour one, I'd be good to go, but those 3 points are going to alter the next 8 weeks drastically and that SUCKS.

Plus there is the worry of the baby getting too big or having blood sugar issues at birth, or me ending up with "real" diabetes one day.

Hopefully since the results aren't too crazy it will all work out fine.

I was just so hoping not to have this worry added to the others, it's either hormones or a rough patch but the past couple of weeks my load has gotten progressively heavier with a variety of worries, stresses and problems.

Perhaps I'll get a couple of extra ultrasounds out of this, those are fun anyway. Of course they might end up showing a giant baby and making me even more stressed.

I'm going to do my best, let go and let God to the best of my ability and just make it through the next 2 months somehow!

Glucose Test FAIL

I am SO ANNOYED!!!!

I can't help it, it irks me to death.

Turns out I failed my 1 hour glucose test on Thursday by a whole 10 points.

149 vs 139

So now they want me to come Weds and take the 3 hour test.

I asked if this is "required" per se, and she somewhat snottily said "Well, it IS the doctor's recommendation."

Geez, I'm not trying to be a bad incubator here.

The point is ... GD can lead to big babies and hypertension/pre-eclampsia and high weight gain and sometimes early delivery.

Big baby - it's going to happen anyway. Her fat little butt is already 2.5 weeks ahead according to my fundal height.

Hypertension - my blood pressure has been low the whole pregnancy.

High weight gain - I've gained all of 11 lbs this whole time, and the baby plus fluid and gunk makes up for most of that.

Early delivery - Ha, for me?! I don't believe it, but if it happens they will either stop it or decide it's not TOO early and let me go. I went in with contractions at 35 weeks with Sophie and they were Not Concerned with stopping labor - it just stopped on its own.

So, I guess I will take the 3 hour test just in case I end up passing it and not having to worry about it anymore.

Hopefully when I talk to Dr. Bovard next Thursday we'll come up with a plan of some kind based on my test results, Jeff's schedule, and my fat baby for when this little piglet needs to be born.

Oh, evidently I'm also anemic (I'm ALWAYS anemic) and should start taking 325mg of iron twice a day. Um... I'd never poop again and would be nauseated 24/7 for the next 2 months. There's no way I can handle that. I will eat some extra spinach and steak or something.

All in all not how I wanted to start my day!!! Keeping my fingers crossed for better news Weds but I have a funny feeling about it.... we'll see....
